Common SealArran is a haven for wildlife and a great place for the wildlife enthusiast. Iconic Scottish species such as red squirrels, otters, common seals, red deer and golden eagles thrive here.  It is also a refuge for less well known threatened species such as hen harriers and red throated divers. When watching wildlife there is always an element of "being in the right place at the right time", but on Arran you are never far from something spectacular and often it is simply a case of knowing where to look. What began as a hobby for me has grown in to a passion as well as a career- it is hard not to get enthusiastic about the wildlife of Arran. I offer a range of walks and guided excursions designed to introduce you to the nature and wild places on the island.

Please visit the Booking Information page for details of how to book.

Otter Discovery Trail

Young otter swimming aong the coast, ArranOtters are one of Britain's best loved mammals and we are lucky on Arran to have several families and individuals that can be watched around the coast.  On this half day trip we visit some of the best locations around the island to view them. Whilst sightings are never guaranteed, we will also be looking for otter signs such as tracks and spraint.- a great opportunity hone your skills and find out how to spot them!  These coastal locations are also great for other wildlife and there is always plenty to see and enjoy.

Because of the shy nature of these animals, maximum group size is limited to 4 people.

Hire a Wildlife Guide
Watching birds of prey on Machrie MoorMany people prefer a personal itinerary designed specifically for them. Visits to wildlife watching locations are tailored to individual requirements and aspirations, making a very rewarding day out. It is possible to spend the whole day on foot, or we can visit a number of locations in the vehicle with shorter walks at the site. Here are just a few ideas to get you thinking!

Full Day Wildlife Watching
Full day private guiding packages are put together with the individual in mind. You can enjoy the island at your own pace and style.  Walking is a great way to get to know a landscape and as well as wildlife there is an immense amount of history to be discovered. Alternatively, we can visit some of the island's best locations for viewing wildlife on an Island Hotspot Safari.

Leave the Car At Home
Leave the car at home!

Why not leave the car at home and come by train? Arran is easy to access by public transport and the ferries meet trains and buses. If you come for the day, I can meet you at the ferry terminal. If you are staying on the island, I can collect you from accommodation in Whiting Bay, Lamlash, Brodick or Corrie.
