Lucy WallaceI am an experienced Summer Mountain Leader and member of the Mountain Leader Training Association. I am based on Arran, but I also work with groups and commercial organisations offering specialist walking holidays in Scotland, including Macs Adventure, and  Montagne Evasion.  I have also previously enjoyed three seasons as the RSPB information officer on the Isle of Arran, showing people the fantastic wildlife on the island through guided walks and events.  I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm and experience with others through skills workshops and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

Over the years I have developed an deep respect for the the wild places of Scotland. My personal journey of understanding the nature of our landscape has taken me to some amazing places. When not working, I love nothing better than to get out in the hills rock climbing, scrambling, or watching birds. I am a keen winter mountaineer and have enjoyed traveling to Europe to climb rock, snow and ice. Recent trips have included The Julian Alps of Slovenia, and Liguria in Italy. However, nothing compares in my view to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland! I also own a sea kayak and am having a lot of fun exploring the West Coast of Scotland in this craft.

I also write about the outdoors and journeys that I have made. You can visit my blog for regular updates about walks, wildlife and life on the Isle of Arran.  The blog also appears on the UK Natural History Bloggers site. I have a regular column in the Voice for Arran online magazine where I cover a range of subjects from coastal wildlife to mountain safety.
If you enjoy social networking you can follow my updates on twitter and even get involved with  a facebook community page that I manage for sharing information about the wildlife, landscape and outdoor activities on the island.
